These butcher block countertops are made in the USA by John Boos & Co. Red Oak is a pale, reddish brown, coarse-grained wood. It tends to be darker than Maple and lighter than Walnut. Edge-grain butcher blocks are constructed using wood strips that run the full length of the block, providing a clean and pleasing look. These particular counter tops are 1-1/2 inches thick, 36 inches wide, 48 inches long, and finished with natural oil so it's safe to cut upon them.

- Red Oak combines soft whites and light to medium browns with a reddish cast to exude warmth.
- Full-length rails are used in edge-grain tops, leaving only parallel seams for a pleasing look.
- Finished with natural oil, so you can safely cut on it. Regular re-oiling is required.
- Note that cutting into or trimming a Boos countertop will void the manufacturer's warranty.
